How to access Modibodi products through the NDIS

This blog explains how you or someone you care for can access Modibodi products through the NDIS, and why it’s a good idea to start planning this early.

The advice in this article may or may not be right for you. If anything in it piques your interest, be sure to seek your own advice and do your own research.

Whilst the advice in this article applies to anyone that wants access Modibodi through the NDIS, Modibodi and My Plan Manager have partnered to write this article about managing the challenges of disability during puberty. Click here now to read Jane and Amy’s* story.

Modibodi’s leak-proof underwear is a sustainable alternative to disposable pads not just for people that want to cut back on their ecological footprint. Modibodi can make it easier to manage cycles and stay protected for people that may experience varying abilities.

Here’s why:

Modibodi’s can keep you covered for the entire day or night to cut down time spent on changing – no more mid-morning bathroom stops or waking up at midnight! This can benefit everybody using Modibodi products.

Modibodi has built in coverage which is one less thing to have to put on.

Certain disabilities can present sensory issues that makes wearing sanitary products physically uncomfortable or even distressing. Having built-in coverage can reduce sensation for the person wearing it.

And Modibodi have just launched an adaptive range that’s put on from the side. This can make it easier for people that may experience varying abilities.

Accessing Modibodi products under the NDIS isn’t difficult but it can take time. That’s why it's a good idea to start planning this early.

How to access Modibodi products through the NDIS

Modibodi is not an NDIS registered provider, so to spend NDIS funds on Modibodi products, a person’s NDIS plan would need to be plan-managed or self-managed. If a plan is agency managed, the client can only use NDIS registered providers.

You or the person you care for will need to have a ‘core supports or consumables budget’ allocated to the NDIS plan. A core supports budget doesn’t cover regular sanitary products, but it does cover disability options like Modibodi.

My Plan Manager recommends having an open discussion with a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) about having this budget added in, as well as options for the future. A core supports budget is not automatically added to a plan.

Can a core supports or consumables budget be added in any time?

No, this needs to be discussed and added at the time of a plan review, which can take a while. Be sure to plan ahead if possible for when you or the person you care for needs it.

How long does it take?

As a plan review is required and every plan is different, we recommend speaking to your Local Area Coordinator to see how long this can take.

Once you or a person you care for has a core supports or consumables budget in their NDIS plan, you can claim Modibodi products you’ve purchased through My Plan Manager’s client portal to have them reimbursed.

Or, you can simply send the paid receipt to accounts@myplanmanager.com.au along with your bank details.
